In referenda in Ireland well over two million people are entitled to vote. The prospect of registering to vote need no longer seem like a bureaucratic nightmare. Several places on the web now provide an easy to use guide to the process in plain English (and Irish for that matter).
Perhaps the most accessible site is provided by Citizens Information:
which provides a guide to voter eligibility and the online versions of the relevant forms for registering.
Also of use is Check the Register:
http://www.checktheregister.ie/
which provides the necessary links to the relevant local authority to check the register of electors.
One may add oneself to the register as late as 15 working days before polling day. That makes the deadline for registering for Lisbon, Friday the 11th of September.
